Sensor-Technik Wiedemann receives the 2011 eCarTec Award for Storage Technology Print

STW receives the 2011 eCarTec AwardOn the 18th of October, Sensor-Technik Wiedemann (STW) received the eCarTec award in the category energy storage technology. This official prize was presented by Mr Martin Zeil, the state minister for Economic Affairs, Infrastructure, Transport and Technology.

The prize recognizes the innovative nature of the powerMELA© Li-Ion battery concept and it’s contribution to sustainable electro-mobility.

The powerMELA© Li-Ion battery module forms the building block for drive batteries of up to 800V. Combined with the battery management system mBMS safe operation is guaranteed. The modular approach enables diverse layouts for vehicles and mobile machines, and allows high voltage batteries to be built simply and safely. With powerMELA© modules, no installation or maintenance work must be carried out under high voltage conditions. Thermal management with liquid cooling is included in the modules and ensures a long lifetime.

The battery module has already been proven in the pilot project eRUF. Sixteen modules are combined in each vehicle to offer 250 kW, giving the eRUF true sports car performance.
